Question

My doctor recommended colposcopy. Does that mean cancer is likely?

A clear, supportive answer

No. Colposcopy is a closer, magnified examination of the cervix used after certain HPV or Pap results to see whether cell changes are present. Recommending it is not a cancer diagnosis. A small biopsy may be taken. Its result determines whether follow-up alone or treatment of a precancerous change is needed. Bring prior results and medicines, and tell the clinic if you are pregnant.
